Effective May 1, 2008, Steve Blakely will be the President and Chief Executive Officer for the new credit union formed through the amalgamation of Common Wealth Credit Union, Community Savings and Servus Credit Union.

Steve joined Servus Credit Union as President and Chief Executive Officer in March of 2007. His focus over the past year has been on top quartile financial performance, championing employee success, "Servus" excellence for members and internal customers, efficient and effective internal processes and leadership in governance. He has also introduced a more formal enterprise risk management process to the organization and the team are currently developing leading edge programs and controls.

Steve is an accomplished senior executive who brings a wealth of financial industry experience and involvement in the Alberta credit union system to his role as President and CEO of Servus Credit Union. He has overseen multi billion dollar portfolios, wide spread branch/department networks and hundreds of employees during his 35 year career in the financial services industry.

For the five years preceding his appointment to Servus Credit Union, Steve was with the Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation, the government appointed regulator and deposit guarantor for all Alberta credit unions. During the last three years with the Corporation he served as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Steve has extensive senior executive experience in the financial services industry including positions in ATB Financial in addition to a variety of senior positions during his 25 years with Bank of Montreal.

Additionally, Steve gained experience in the high tech industry through his position as Vice President Operations at Competix.com, a California based company providing automated loans underwriting systems to small and mid size banks across the USA.

Steve is married and lives in Edmonton. They have two adult daughters.
