executive leadership team

The day-to-day operations of Servus Credit Union are overseen by our Executive Leadership Team.

Members of the Executive Leadership Team are:


Garth Warner (MBA), President & Chief Executive Officer

Garth has been a member of the Servus Credit Union family for 28 years, having started as a Personal Banker and advancing to his current position as President and Chief Executive Officer. In his previous role as Chief Operating Officer Garth provided successful leadership of the retail operations divisions through periods of rapid growth and mergers. Immediately prior to the creation of the newly amalgamated Servus Credit Union Garth served as Acting CEO for six months. He earned his MBA in Financial Services in 2003.

Yves Auger,
Chief Information Officer

Yves joined Servus Credit Union in 1999 after spending his first three years in the organization as a consultant leading complex information technology projects such as the implementation of a new banking system. Yves put his 12 years of consulting experience for large government and private organizations to work as Vice President Information Technology, a position he held until 2004 when he was promoted to Chief Information Officer. He is fluently bilingual and has a degree in Information Management Systems. Yves is providing significant leadership to cooperative information technology projects in the Canadian credit union system.

Dan Bruinooge,
Chief People Officer

Dan has 20 years of experience in human resources that has led to his current role as Chief People Officer of Servus Credit Union. He is no stranger of cooperative organizations, having worked in progressively responsible human resources positions with Federated Cooperatives Limited and the Cooperative Retailing System, one of North America's largest consumer cooperatives. He also has been in senior management positions with the City of St. Albert and Triple Five Corporation/West Edmonton Mall Property Inc. He has B.A. with Majors in Business Administration and Accounting, and is a Certified Human Resource Professional.

Eric Dillon (MBA), Chief Operating Officer

Eric has worked in the Alberta credit union system for the past 15 years in portfolios such as credit, marketing, operations, wealth management and strategy. Prior to being appointed Servus' Chief Operating Officer in 2009, he held the position of Senior Vice President Strategy. He was recognized in 2005 as the recipient of the Credit Union Central of Canada National Young Leader Award and was the inaugural Chairperson of the National Young Leaders Committee of Credit Union Central of Canada. Eric has an MBA with a focus on Management Consulting and Enterprise Risk Management. He is an active community participant having served on the Boards of several organizations.

Ian Glassford (MBA), Chief Financial Officer

Ian joined the Treasury Department of Servus Credit Union in 1993 after five years on Bay Street and has been promoted through increasingly responsible positions, joining the Leadership Team in 1997 and then to his current role as Chief Financial Officer in 2008. He holds a B.Comm, MBA, and earned his CMA designation in 2007. Ian has served on the Board of Credential Financial Limited, as lecturer at the University of Alberta, as well as on the Financial Management Curriculum Committee of the Credit Union Institute of Canada.

Darcy Peelar, Chief Risk Officer

Darcy was appointed Chief Risk Officer at Servus Credit Union in 2008. He brings to this position 32 years of varied experience in the financial industry, including 22 years at the helm of Vermilion Credit Union as CEO. Darcy has held numerous positions within the
Alberta and Canadian credit unions systems. He has been extensively involved in minor and semi-professional hockey for many years as a coach, official and organizer, in addition to other volunteer commitments.

Gail Stepanik-Keber (MA)
, Chief Marketing Officer

Gail began her Servus career in 1998 as Director, Marketing. Her past professional experience includes being the general manager of a marketing communications company in
Malaysia for six years. She has a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Alberta and completed her Masters in Leadership from Royal Roads University in 2007 with a thesis in corporate environmentalism. Gail is very active with Norquest College, serving on the Board of Governors and on the Board of the NorQuest College Foundation. Other governance involvement includes being one of the founding Board members of the Livia Stoyke Foundation and the River City Shakespeare Festival.

Taras Nohas (MBA), Vice President Strategy

Taras joined the management team of Servus Credit Union in 2007 after leading strategic planning in Alberta Health and Wellness and Alberta Economic Development. In 2003, he was a Premier's Award of Excellence Gold Recipient as a member of the Alberta Future Summit Team. Taras served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Ukrainian Credit Union in Calgary from 1988 to 1991, on the Servus Board of Directors from 2003 to 2007, and as Chair of the Ukrainian Community Council from 1998 to 2003. Taras has a BComm and MBA from the U of A majoring in Finance and Marketing.
