Get Ready for the Chip Card Evolution!

Chip technology is virtually impossible to copy and provides further protection from identity theft and fraud.
To use your chip-embedded credit card at a chip terminal you simply follow these steps:
Step 1: Insert your credit card "chip first" into the chip-reader on the terminal.
Note: Your card remains in the terminal during the entire transaction.
Step 2: Click OK on the purchase amount. Enter your four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) and wait for the transaction to be processed.
Step 3: Remove your chip card after your transaction is Approved. With chip technology you don't have to sign a receipt when you make a purchase, instead you only enter your four-digit PIN.
The conversion to chip technology will take several years to complete, therefore all chip-embedded CUETS MasterCard credit cards will also have a magnetic stripe on the back. The magnetic stripe remains a secure method of payment and having it on your credit card ensures that transactions will be accepted worldwide at terminals and ATMs that are not yet chip-enabled.
You can change the PIN on your chip credit card at any Servus Credit Union Branch. As well as at any Canadian credit union that has an in-branch PIN changing device.
Remember to always protect Your PIN whether you are using a chip card or a card with a magnetic stripe.
