Your Servus Credit Union MasterCard® card includes a number of security features that are designed to effectively protect you from fraud. These security features include:
- Magnetic stripe. The film stripe on the back of your MasterCard card stores your account information. The magnetic stripe does not contain personal information such as your birth date or mother's maiden name.
- Embossed numbers. Raised account numbers on the front of a MasterCard card extend into the hologram (if a hologram is on the card face).
- Hologram. A three-dimensional image with interlocking globes reflects light and appears to move when the card is rotated.
- Tamper-evident signature panel. The signature panel on the back of your MasterCard card guards against fraudulent use.
- Personal Identification Number. Your PIN protects you from fraudulent use of your MasterCard card at the ATM.
- Card Validation Code. The three-digit code printed on the signature panel of your MasterCard card enables retailers to ensure that you have possession of the card during a phone or online transaction.
It is very important to maintain the security of your MasterCard by refusing to give your card number and/or card validation code to anyone other than a reputable retailer and then only if you are initiating a purchase transaction. Neither Servus Credit Union nor our MasterCard provider CUETS will ever ask for your card number or your Card Validation Code. If anyone asks you for this information exercise caution and call the 1-800 number of the back of your MasterCard card immediately to verify the call.
